Community
The school community
The
curriculum is enriched by providing extra curricular activities such as
swimming, football, dance, nature detectives, film club, gardening
club, safer cycling and individual music tuition. A wide range of visits and visitors further enhances
the curriculum and extends pupils' learning. Visits are made to places
of local and national interest such as: the parish church, other local
schools, heritage properties, Cambridge and London. The school has
strong links with the local community, which provides speakers and
leaders for assembly and Collective Worship, and with members of
the wider community, the police, nurses and other specialists who come
and visit. An annual residential visit by pupils in years 5 and 6 helps to
promote cultural, social and adventure education.
The school works closely with the village
pre-school, and the other four local primary schools, which feed into
the local secondary school, Bassingbourn Village College. This ensures
that pupils' transition from one stage of their education to another is
smooth and effective. The school is part of the Bassingbourn, Melbourn and Gamlingay (BeMAG) cluster of schools.
Out of School Club The
Out Of School Club provides reasonably priced childcare before and after
school in term time, from 8am to 6pm, on the school premises. It is run
by an independent committee, with paid staff. The club offers a variety
of stimulating and enjoyable activities throughout the year and also
runs holiday sessions. |
